What started as a “by youth for youth” initiative in Winnipeg, MB called Black Hand to Black Hand, grew into a Canada-wide resource: Black Youth Helpline (BYH). This charitable non-profit focuses largely on early intervention and prevention as well as three key pillars: helping Black youth stay in school successfully, nurturing holistic health, and building community. BYH provides culturally-informed professional assessments and services not only for youth, but also support for families, school staff and other professionals working with young people.
They can be called between 9:00am and 10:00pm Eastern Time at 416-285-9944 or toll-free at 1-833-294-8650. For more information visit blackyouth.ca.
