Lately, I’ve rediscovered my love for sewing! It all started when I stumbled upon a sewing machine at a thrift store. It was a lucky find, and I genuinely believe it was meant to be. In the past few months, I’ve been determined to learn this skill through YouTube videos and long calls with my grandma.
My grandma has always been my inspiration for sewing. Growing up, I remember being in awe of her skills as she created beautiful dresses and funky Halloween costumes for my sister and me. Before I left my home country to come to Canada, she gave me a crash course in sewing, and I promised myself that I would eventually give it a shot.
Sadly, somewhere along the way, I stopped believing in myself. I held onto a fear of not being perfect and convinced myself that if I couldn’t master something right from the start, I should not even try it. I’ve now realized that this fear and self-doubt have kept me from pursuing things I love and exploring new hobbies.
So, here I am, wholeheartedly exploring my passion for sewing. I’m trying to embrace a growth mindset and reconnect with this part of myself. I may be far from perfect, but that’s okay! I’m enjoying the journey, my progress and learning from my ever-inspiring grandma 🙂
