Feel Good Friday: Scientists and Astronomers

This month has been quite emotional and significant for scientists and astronomers all across the world. The first deep field image from the James Webb Space Telescope was released and provided insight into some of the most distant galaxies and captured the clearest images we have seen of our neighbouring galaxies. The images combined with the data collected from these pictures will transform research around our universe and give us insight into how exactly we came to be.

The image is such a beautiful capture and is truly evidence of the power of the human mind and curiosity. This is what people coming together can result in. The telescope was built over 25 years and involved effort from thousands of people and now we are looking at 13.3 billion years in the past. The image is littered with billions of galaxies and billions of solar systems.

There is something so deeply personal about nature revealing its secrets. The universe around us may not be easily perceivable but looking at those images does let us know that we were created alongside all these extremely beautiful and complex stars and planets. It really makes you wonder and curious about our origins and what more humankind can achieve. And if as a child you wanted to be an astronaut like me, the pictures might make your inner child jump in happiness!

Happy Friday!

The idea of Feel Good Fridays started because we believe the simple things that bring a smile to our face are the best things. Smiling and laughing has been proven to reduce stress in our lives! When we smile or laugh it releases neurotransmitters in our brain called endorphins, which are in charge of making us happy and helping to relieve stress.
