Feel Good Friday: Thrifted Books

Last week, I had a bit of a stressful day. I had a healthcare appointment and because of a small admin mistake, I had to wait a couple of hours to see the doctor. Trying to pass the time, I went for a walk and came across a Goodwill Bookstore. Thrifting has always felt relaxing and comforting, so I eagerly entered the store. To my surprise, there were all kinds of books neatly organized into sections and categories. As I looked through them, it felt like time had stood still.

While browsing the classics section, I found books from my wish list that I’ve been wanting to read for so long, including Agatha Christie’s detective novels and Jane Austen’s timeless love stories. My arms were sore from all the books I was carrying, but the excitement of these finds made me feel extra strong. I had a big pile of books, and I was able to get them all for the price of one new book!

This impromptu adventure brought me so much joy, and I couldn’t stop smiling for the rest of the day. I can’t wait to read through these books over the cold and cozy winter days. If you are looking for a new book to read or a new way to spend your time, don’t hesitate to check out a local thrift store. You may be surprised at the books they have for an affordable price!

The idea of Feel Good Fridays started because we believe the simple things that bring a smile to our face are some of the best things. Smiling and laughing has been proven to reduce stress in our lives! When we smile or laugh it releases neurotransmitters in our brain called endorphins, which are in charge of making us happy and helping to relieve stress.
